My licensure allows me to practice counseling only in the state of Georgia in person and online. I completed my education in July 2003 and have been working in this field for the past 15 years. The methods I most often use are called Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.  Therapy of this type entails changing the way you think in order to subsequently change behaviors.  Using affirmations, staying in the present, reading, and journaling are just a few examples of what we will be doing to “re-wire” your brain to erase all of those old tapes that cause you pain and to create new pathways to a happy and fulfilling life. I am skilled in EMDR Therapy, very helpful in Trauma therapy, empowering you with skills to help cope with anxiety, giving you the resources to reduce stress and help heal the wounds that come from single incident trauma or developmental trauma. Counseling children I have found that Narrative Therapy works very well with them and through natural play they are able to process what can sometimes be traumatic life events such as moving, divorce or the death of a family member to name just a few. Over the course of the last fifteen years I have gained a lot of experience in the treatment of eating disorders, substance abuse, sexual abuse, as well as problems arising from ADHD in adolescents to couples therapy, family dynamics and individual therapy to address a myriad of issues. Continuing education requirements have been very helpful in keeping the mental health professional abreast of advancements in the field, new technologies and strategies for healing. I consider myself a Christian counselor first and foremost. I am God's instrument; He does the healing.
